Some New Items to Try!

I was essentially just looking for some lip balms because I was almost out. The Jersey Shore Cosmetics balms are my absolute favorite, so I was going to buy some more of those. However, they are $10 a piece. I decided to look for some other balms where I could get more for my money. Not only did I find some new lip balms to try, but I ended up purchasing a few other items as well. I’ve now had a chance to try these out, so here are my thoughts.

Lancôme Hydra Zen VoxBox

This is my sixth VoxBox from Influenster, and I think this one might just be my favorite so far. I was so ecstatic when I received this! The packaging is wonderful, and it’s my favorite shade of pink! I know that how well a product works is more important than what it looks like, but having a product that is pretty to look at is a great bonus. I will give you the lowdown on the products I received in my box, how much it retails for, and my thoughts.

Recently Watched on Netflix

I got an email the other day saying that Netflix is getting rid of reviews due to “declining usage”. That sounds like a poor excuse, but of course usage will decline when they don’t even include the reviews on any of their apps. I personally think that’s stupid because I personally like seeing others’ thoughts on a movie. Sure, there are other sites you can go to for that, but it’s more convenient when it’s right there on the site you’re planning to watch on.

I liked the idea of Netflix having their own original content, but now it seems like that’s all they are focused on. Most of the content they’re putting out are things that I’m not even that interested in watching. As far as the other streaming content they’re offering, it’s pretty lackluster. I want to do this “Recently Watched on Netflix” as a continuous series here in my blog where I do mini-reviews of movies I’ve recently watched. However, the selection on Netflix right now is not that great, so I’m not sure how frequent these posts will be. I did watch a few movies recently, so I figured I would post my thoughts on those.

Blogger Spotlight: June 2018

785

Another month has passed, so it’s time for another blogger spotlight. I will admit, I didn’t get to read too many posts in June. I haven’t read too many in July yet either. I’m sure there are a lot of great posts that I end up missing out on. There just really isn’t enough time in the day! If you saw my last post, you will know that I got my basement set up, so I have been spending most of my free time down there watching movies. That’s the agenda for tonight too, but I wanted to get this post up first. I’ve also got some other posts planned that I want to get started on as well.

Without further ado, here are a few posts from June that I really enjoyed.

The One with the Basement [Weekly Photo Roundup #4]

760

Happy first of July! I can’t believe June is over already. This whole year has just been flying by so far! I still remember sitting alone in my room on New Years Eve and thinking that 2018 was going to be just another less than stellar year that blends in with previous years. I couldn’t even have told you when the last really good thing to happen to me was. I had no idea at that moment what 2018 had in store for me. We’re now six months into this year and my car has been paid off, I’m sitting in my own home that I purchased (and just made my first mortgage payment), and I’ve finally got my basement set up, which has been a dream of mine for quite some time.

One Year of Blogging!

759

It’s June 21st, which means I’ve officially hit the one year mark here on my blog! Of course I’ve been blogging way longer than a year, but this was my first year being back after a six year break. It’s hard to believe that it has already been a year since my first post here at Surrealistique.

I would be lying if I said I still showed the same enthusiasm as I did when I first created this blog. I don’t want to be negative, but I want to be real, so I figured I would share my feelings on the matter. As much as I do enjoy blogging, it does feel like a chore at times. I think it’s the pressure from the blogging community that you have stick to a certain schedule and don’t go too long without posting. Do this. Do that. I just can’t stick with that rhythm any longer. Writing and posting is enjoyable to me when I feel like I have something I want to share, but I don’t want to force it.

Purple Paradise Bath Bomb

If any of you remember my Sparimo Unboxing a while back, this Purple Paradise bath bomb is one of the items I received, and I was excited to try it. I finally got around to using it last weekend, and I really liked it. It was so pretty! The only downside was that it didn’t really have much of a smell, but the colors kind of made up for it. It was a very deep purple, with a mixture of some pink and gold hues. I would definitely use this bomb again. I will let the pictures speak for themselves.
