I’m back!

I can’t even remember when my last blog entry was. I believe it was around six years ago. I’ve been out of the blog scene for so long now, that it’s actually a little bit nerve wracking trying to jump back in. I created a blog over a half a year ago, but I ended up scrapping it because I just felt like I wouldn’t have anything interesting to post. All throughout high school, I owned the blog Unfoolish-Miracles.net. I remember being surprised at how many people read and commented on what I had to say. Of course life as a teenager is rather dramatic. I basically wrote out my life story, through my school troubles, breakups and experimentation with drugs and alcohol. Sometime post-high school, I closed down my domain and moved over to a wordpress blog called Enchanted. I eventually closed that blog down too. Now here I am attempting to give this another go. What can I say? I missed it.

I made quite a few online friends from blogging, some who I still keep in touch with on social media. One of those bloggers, Brandy, I even met and hung out with in real life on numerous occasions. Part of what caused me to drift away from blogging to begin with was the rise of social media. Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, etc. My life, thoughts, and photos were being shared through these new networks. At the time I felt like blogging wasn’t necessary anymore. People could just follow me on those sites and get the same information without having to read lengthy paragraphs. Writing and creating blog posts can be very therapeutic though, and I don’t think anything can compare to that. I’m glad to see that blogging isn’t dead and that some of my old blog buddies still keep their sites running.

I’m still a bit unsure of what exactly I want to post on this blog. I’m long out of high school (I graduated in 2007), and my life is not as wild and crazy as it once was. I love taking landscape photos and photos of the sky. I’m also a bit obsessed with buying and trying out different beauty products, so this blog might be a combination of those things. I’ll just see where it takes me.

For those who never got a chance to view my previous blogs, allow me to quickly introduce myself. My name is Britney, and I am currently 28 years old. I will be 29 later this year, in November. That makes me a Scorpio, and it’s true what they say. Scorpio’s have major pride in their sign. I even have a scorpion tattoo, among others. Speaking of pride, I’m from Maryland and we’re very prideful of our state. We have the best state flag. (Duh!) We also have the best seafood (blue crabs with Old Bay is the greatest thing to ever exist), and there’s a reason that Maryland’s nickname is America in Miniature. We have farmland, city, mountains, and beaches all in one state. I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. In my spare time I enjoy watching movies (horror and comedy are my favorites), watching true crime shows on the ID channel, and watching my all-time favorite shows (Buffy and Beverly Hills, 90210). I think that about sums it up for now, and I’m looking forward to this new blogging adventure.

P.S. If you took the time to read all of that, thank you.

  1. Welcome back, Britney! I was surprised someone left a comment on my blog. It’s true about social media, I used to write about everything that happens in my life, but now I just post pictures on Instagram or Facebook. But I have kept my domain since 2007, I don’t want to lose it coz it’s my name. Hehehe. So I blog from time to time, whenever something “big” happens.

Glad we’ve connected. Hope to hear from you soon. ^_^

    1. Thank you! You have such a pretty name, by the way. It’s good you’ve kept your blog because you would probably miss it if you gave it up. I had a decent following on my old blog, but now I’m starting all over again and trying to find new bloggers to connect with. A few of my old blog buddies still have theirs, but most have since given up blogging, so I’ve just been doing some searching to locate some new interesting bloggers. 🙂

      1. Awesome. I guess through the years I’ve had quite a harder time connecting with other bloggers coz most of them blog to monetize. Not that I have anything against it, I just miss the simplicity of getting to know people and not the brands they’re promoting.

      2. Hey Nickle, most of the bloggers that I follow are not monetizing. If you’re looking for people who just share their day and the interesting things they’re doing/ thoughts, you should check out Pink for Days and Life of Angela. They have these cool posts where the highlight other bloggers. It’s to help us discover new people to follow and support the community. We all love to comment on each other’s posts and you’ll find lots of cool bloggers.

  2. Loved reading your new blog, Britney! I remember when we first met a ton of years ago, I was one of those that read your blog. It’s kind of crazy to think how much time has passed. I still have my very first blog somewhere online, though I’m not even sure I still have access to it. Anyways, you need not thank me, but I did read the entire thing. I knew most of that about it, but it’s still fun to learn new things about people.

    1. I never knew you had a blog before. I’ve had quite a few. lol Unfoolish-Miracles was the most popular and the one I had the longest, but I remember my first website/blog before that which was called Poison Paradise (from a Britney Spears song – Toxic) lol

  3. I’m so happy to see you back!

Completely agree with you. Social media has killed off blogging to an extent. I’ve found it to be a lot more challenging. I remember, once upon a time, I used to manage to write blogs almost every day. It’s definitely changed from “back in the day” (haha, I feel so old saying that).

But, like you said, blogging does have it’s perks, because I’ve met you, and so many other great people. It’s funny, because, I feel closer to you guys than I do with my friends in the same state – even if we can’t see each other as much due to distance. I wouldn’t have it any other way though. But, now that you have an iPhone, we should FaceTime sometime. That would be a ball. Of course, we need to try to visit each other, although like you, I also have horrible anxiety when it comes to driving.

    1. Part of why I wanted to get back into blogging was because I miss the sense of community/friendship among bloggers. It’s fun commenting on peoples blogs and them also commenting on yours back. It’s a good way to build rapport and get to know more people online. Social media these days just seems a bit shallow, but blogging is hopefully still a bit deeper than that.

      1. It’s definitely deeper than that. On social media you get comments like “sweet 😍” lol, which is okay of course, but sometimes you want more than a like for the time and thought you put into something. Read the message I left Nickle for a couple of bloggers that could help you build and join a community.

  4. I am so happy to see you’re back! I’m loving the name and the new blog direction. Like you, I feel the same sometimes. Social media trally takes away from the 2000s web we all grew up on. The blogosphere is still alive and well though!! Have fun!! ❤️❤️❤️

  5. I’m not sure if my last comment posted, but thanks so much for including me on your new journey and letting me know about your new blog. I love the direction and I love the name. Like you, social media has made me feel like blogging is a necessary sometimes. But there’s definitely something to be said for the blogosphere; it’s alive and well. Have fun! I’ll definitely make sure to keep reading.

    1. Thanks, Christine! I finally got your comments to go through. For some reason they went into spam, which is weird because the other comments from people posted fine. I first pondered coming back almost a year ago. That’s when I came up with the name, which is a combination of Surrealistic and Mystique. I ended up thinking I would be too boring so I never did. I’m glad to be back on the scene though. I used to post several times per week back when I had my old blog, but I doubt that will happen now. I’m going to try to post at least once a week, but we’ll see. 🙂

  6. I’m glad to see you started a blog again! I miss reading your posts! I haven’t been very active recently but I’m trying to get back into it. I can’t believe it’s been 6-7 years since I had my old site as well! I just turned 30 earlier this year and my son turns 6 next month! I can’t wait to read more from you 🙂

    1. Thanks, Alanna! I was wondering what happened to you. 🙂 I’ll be 29 this year, but I don’t have any kids. I like my freedom, but I’m also single so it’s not in the cards any time soon.

  7. Since you love landscapes and clouds (I’m a huge cloud fan, btw) and beauty products, you can start with a focus on highlighting beautiful things. I would suggest that you don’t confine yourself to any one subject though. Visit other bloggers for ideas on what’s out there and Pinterest has tons of ideas for blog posts. You’ll start to see what you’re drawn to most.
