Love the Skin You’re In

I’ve seen this going around on a few blogs, and blogger Kittyp0p has nominated anyone who’s interested to also participate.

The rules are to thank your tagger and link their blog, be truthful when answering the questions, and donโ€™t judge others. Feel free to add any body positivity related questions, and nominate as many people as you can to spread the love and acceptance and self-worth/esteem boost.

One (or more) features you love about yourself:
My eyes. I have central heterochromia, so while the majority of my iris is blue, the pupil is outlined in a hazel color. I especially like the way they light up in the sunlight.

I also like my abs, but of course I have to put in a little bit of work to get and maintain them.

One feature you wish you could change that you are trying to accept:
My teeth. I rarely open mouth smile in photos because I hate them. I’ve had numerous people tell me they aren’t that bad, but I dislike them. They’re kind of big, and my two front teeth slant inwards. I actually had a consultation this year for braces, but sadly I was unable to go through with it because after discussing prices and payment options, I am unable to afford them at the moment.

A feature you used to dislike but now you’re okay with:
My boobs. I’m a A-cup and I’ve been called flat chested more than once. When I was younger, I always admired ladies with bigger breasts and was wondering if mine would ever grow. Now I’m okay with my cup-size and even love them. I think they’re cute, and they’re not heavy so I don’t have to worry about back problems or anything.

Have you thought of getting surgery to change your imperfections?
Not surgery, no. As I mentioned I would like to have my teeth straightened one day. I’ve also considered lip injections to make my top lip a little bigger, although I probably wouldn’t actually go through with it. I’m too scared something would go wrong. My top lip is a little thinner than my bottom lip, so I wouldn’t mind evening them out. I would like my lips to always look how they do in the below photo. (I made them appear bigger by slightly overlining the lips, which is kind of obvious. lol). I love Kylie Jenner’s lips, but I probably wouldn’t want to go quite that big.

One of your main role models for body positivity:
I don’t really have any.

Has a family member or friend ever put you down about your appearance?
Yes. My grandma once told me that I needed to get my teeth fixed because they’re crooked. My family also comments on how tiny I am all the time, and it gets really old.

Something you love about your fashion sense or style?
I mostly just stick with jeans and a top, so I keep it simple. I guess I like the sort of edginess I put into my style. For example, some of the few dresses I own have spider webs and tiger stripes on them. I’m also rather obsessed with the 90’s and like to incorporate some 90’s style into my looks a lot.

Why is your body a great place to be?
Because I can literally eat anything I want to and I don’t really gain weight. I know lots of people admire me for that. lol

Picture of yourself when you felt the most confident:
You might not be able to tell by my serious face, but I really liked my hair and makeup on this day. I was trying to go for a colorful alien-like look.

I also tag anyone who wants to participate in this as well.

    1. Thank you! I’ve really been slacking lately. I haven’t done an ab workout in like two weeks. I need to get back into the swing of things. lol I was actually doing some cycling over the weekend though, and that actually helps a bit with abs as well.

      1. I actually don’t really follow a program. I basically just do crunches and make sure I lean to the sides to work my obliques. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I love how honest and open this post was. Reading this, I never noticed any of the “imperfections” that you had disliked about yourself. I only saw the beauty in you! I think we all tend to criticize ourselves very harshly! By the way, rockin’ body girl!

  3. I loved reading this post. I think everyone can relate to having things they like and dislike about themselves. I’ve always hated my nose, but I’d never have surgery to change it. I think even if I did, I’d just find something else I was unhappy with.

Your teeth look fine as they are, but I understand wanting to change them. I technically need braces, because some of my teeth have grown in the same place, but unfortunately they’re ยฃ3000. No way could I afford that!

I love your alien look. You look lovely! And those dresses you’re wearing are beautiful!
