100 Followers! + Shopping Trip

First, I want to say thank you to everyone who has followed me so far! I have now passed 100 followers! I opened this blog two and a half months ago, and I was nervous that nobody would be interested and I would be talking to myself. I didn’t think I would gain this many followers in such a short time. I do admit I get down on myself sometimes because I see other bloggers who started theirs around the same time (or even after me), and they have twice as many followers now. I have to remind myself that it’s not a competition or a popularity contest. As long as I’m having fun doing what I’m doing (which I am), then that’s what matters. Of course I want people to like and be interested in what I have to say. I think that’s something we all want. I’m just glad I’ve been able to continually grow my blog.

Yesterday, I went to the mall on a little shopping trip. I honestly can’t remember the last time I went to the mall. As I’ve mentioned previously, I’m a bit of a homebody. I also like shopping at stores that we don’t have in the mall here, so I tend to buy everything online. Well, I attempted to buy jeans online a while back too, and that didn’t work out so well. It’s a shame too because I absolutely loved those jeans, but despite being the size I normally wear, I couldn’t pull them up over my butt. From that moment, I decided any time I needed new jeans I would have to try them on before I bought them. That’s what triggered my trip to the mall. I’ve been wearing the same jeans for about a decade now. They got to the point where I couldn’t wear them much longer. There were big holes in the butt (where I had to wear a long shirt to cover it), and rips up the leg. I needed new jeans, asap.

I thought my makeup looked good, so I had to take some pictures before I left the house. I actually love wearing dark gray eyeshadow because I feel like it makes my eyes pop. Even though my eyes are blue, it sort of gives them a gray appearance and makes them stand out.. The lip cream I was wearing is ColourPop in shade Time Square. I’m actually not a fan of the matte ColourPop lip creams because they dry much darker than the color appears in the tube, and I also find them to be very drying. This one is a decent color though.

As I mentioned, my main focus on this shopping trip was finding new jeans. What a frustrating venture that was! I absolutely hate shopping for jeans because it’s so hard to find ones I like that are affordable and in my size. After visiting several stores with no luck, I finally managed to find four pair of jeans from Aeropostale that fit well and were only around $25 per pair. The only issue is they’re skinny jeans (which is the only kind that every store had) and I’ve always liked flares (like the 70’s) and wide legs (like the 90’s – though not as extreme as Jnco’s). I honestly feel like skinny leg jeans have been in style for over a decade now. Can we bring flares back, please? Anyways, the jeans I found are actually somewhat stretchy, so they were comfortable and fit my legs really well. I’m sure I’ll get used to the style as I wear them more.

When I was at the register to pay for my jeans, I saw a row of ankle socks that were buy one set, get two free. I figured, why not? I got some in black, white, and gray.

After stopping into JCPenney’s, I saw they had a sale on some of their t-shirts. It was buy 3 for $15. That was only $5 a shirt! Considering most shirts these days cost $15 to $20 just for one shirt, I couldn’t resist. I’ve always liked graphic tees, and they remind me of the 70’s. (I love pretty much anything retro).

I also had to stop by Sally’s Beauty Supply because I’m almost out of shampoo and conditioner. I like ION brand, and I usually use the Keratin Smooth products, but I thought I would switch it up a little and got the Moisture set. Since I light my (naturally dark blonde) hair with highlights, I figured I would also get the weekly blonde treatment.

I thought I was done, but then I happened to walk by Bath & Body Works and saw they had Halloween and Fall products out. I couldn’t resist. Halloween is the best! Since I’m very avid about washing my hands, I go through soap pretty fast, so I got these four soaps. Halloween is more than a Holiday, it’s a lifestyle, so I have no qualms about using these at any time of the year.

After finishing my shopping, my stomach was growling, so I stopped at the nearby Noodles & Company. They opened one here a while back, but this was actually the first time I’ve been there. All of their pasta bowls looked yummy, so it was hard to choose. I ended up going with the Korean Beef Noodles. I really liked it. I definitely want to go back and try some of the other noodles.

  1. Congrats girly! I made my blog in December and have yet to reach 100, trying not to see it as a competition and more of something I like to do for fun πŸ™‚ I love that lip color you’re wearing!!

    1. I know the feeling. There are people who started their blogs after me who already have 3x as many followers as me. As long as we’re having fun, that’s what matters. Of course it does help to know people are reading though. I’ve been promoting my blog on Twitter, and I think that has helped. There’s a lot of “blogger trains” on there where bloggers retweet each other or post the links to to their blogs for people to check out and follow.

  2. Congratulations on 100 followers!! Your makeup does look beautiful. It looks like you had a successful shopping trip, jeans really are the hardest to shop for– that’s why I rarely wear them! I always wanna buy things online, too but I’m scared they won’t fit like they didn’t for you, haha.

  3. Yay on 100 followers!

Man, I know what you mean about jean shopping too – I try not to as long as possible. I was lucky a few years ago when F21 was selling jeans for $8 a pair, and I’ve been riding that train for as long as I can!

  4. I find that Aeropostale’s jeans fit me the best as well. Plus, I love that they’re so stretchy, comfy, and they work well with my fluctuation in weight. I bought some stretchy/flare jeans at Target awhile back, but they’re small on me now. I honestly haven’t worn jeans in months though, because i find them uncomfortable around my stomach. I’ve been wearing yoga and sweat pants. LOL.

I can’t use scented hand soaps, because they flare-up my eczema.

I miss Noodles and Co. They closed our mall location. There’s another location about 20 minutes from me though.
