What’s your favorite Fall outfit?
To be honest, I generally just wear the same type of clothes year-round, so I don’t have a favorite. I tend to stick with jeans and a t-shirt, and when it’s chilly I put a hoodie over top. Although, I do have a purple hoodie that I really like. I also have a dark blue fuzzy sweater that I like to wear in the Fall and Winter, but I hate that it’s hand-wash only. I would love to wear more sweaters if it wasn’t for that.
What is Fall weather like where you live?
Here in Maryland, we always joke about how we experience four seasons within one week. It seems to change from day to day. For example, the other day was cloudy and rainy in the 60’s. The next day it was sunny and in the 80’s, feeling like peak Summer. Then at night, it drops down to the 30’s and 40’s, feeling like Winter. We’ve even gotten snow in the Fall before. I’ll never forget the snow storm we got some years ago. It happened on Halloween. It was snowing all day, temperatures were in the 30’s, and it knocked our power out for 12 hours. I spent the entire day in bed just trying to stay warm. Thankfully, most of the snow we get does not knock our power out. That was just a particularly windy and wet snow storm.
What’s your favorite drink to have in the Fall?
I don’t really have a favorite. I’ve actually never tried a pumpkin spice latte, although I did get a Toasted Marshmallow frozen cappuccino drink from Sheetz before, and it was pretty yummy. I also like Apple Cider and Hot Chocolate (though I like that one more in the Winter).
Does your family have any Fall traditions? If so, what are they?
Well, not anymore. When I was a kid, we would always divide up Halloween candy and put them in treat bags. Then all of us kids would get together and go trick-or-treating on the road my dad lives on. Since it’s in the country and houses were not super close together, we would always pile blankets in the back of the truck and ride to all the houses. It is among some of my best childhood memories. Unfortunately, all of us kids grew up, as well as the other kids on the road. They now no longer do trick-or-treat there because pretty much everyone is grown.
What’s your favorite Fall scented candle?
I have some candles and wax melts that I bought from a shop on Etsy called OnAWickAndAPrayer. Unfortunately, that shop seems to have vanished. I tried to go to it recently and it says it does not exist. That’s such a shame because her candles and melts smelled so good! Anyway, my two favorites were called Vampire and Haunted Hayride. They were literally the perfect Fall and Halloween scents, and I’ve never found anything quite like them.
What are some activities and events you enjoy going to in the Fall months?
I enjoy going to haunted houses and attractions, even though they don’t scare me. It’s just good fun. I was supposed to go to Field of Screams recently, but we got rained out. It’s an almost 2 hour drive from here, but they have four attractions. Den of Darkness, Frightmare Asylum, Haunted Hayride, and Nocturnal Wasteland. The Hayride is always my favorite. We might be going the weekend after Halloween now, if the weather is okay.
Tell us about one of your favorite Fall memories.
As I mentioned above, trick or treating on my dad’s road was always among the best times I ever had as a kid. I still remember one of the times when we pulled up to a house, and we saw a creepy looking prop laying in the yard. Well, guess what? It was not a prop, it was a real person! They jumped up really quick and scared the crap out of us! It was awesome though.
What are some Fall movies you enjoy watching?
It’s cliche, but Hocus Pocus is my favorite. I watch it every single year around this time. I also love watching other Halloween themed movies, and of course horror movies. I’ll probably do a future post with some more of my favorites.
What’s your favorite Fall treat?
This is sort of a combination of both Fall and Winter because it’s a good treat for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. My favorite is gingerbread. My mom and I would always make a gingerbread cake each year. It’s so yummy!
If you celebrate Halloween, what is the best costume you’ve ever worn?
I’ll never forget the time I dressed up as Cher. That costume was pretty rad. I had this curly wig, a black sweater, and a faux leather mini skirt with fishnets. I also loved in 2003 when my dad and I painted our faces like Otis and Captain Spaulding from House of 1000 Corpses. It was really cool because it was something we did together, and our makeup turned out really good. I was Otis, and my dad was Captain Spaulding. I wish I could show you pictures, but I think they’re packed in a box somewhere.
