October Glam Bag

The bag:
The makeup bag this month is definitely one of my favorites. Though my camera makes it look a brighter red than it actually is, it has a nice lace design and a little bat on the zipper. It’s an awesome gothic-style bag that you can use year-round if you want. Although this style is one of my most favorites, I prefer the design of last year’s October bag, which is still my #1 favorite. If you’ve forgotten what that one looks like, you can see it here.

Hey Honey: Trick and Treat Concealer
I absolutely love this brand! I even did a whole post on their products before. I was definitely excited to find out that I would get to try yet another one of their products. However, I really do not use concealer all that much. I usually don’t have very dark circles under my eyes, and if I have blemishes I just cover them with bb cream, a color corrector, or foundation. Still though, I was definitely going to try this to see how I liked it. I’ve been using this underneath my eyes. The shade is definitely darker than my skin tone when I first apply it, but it blends super well while still providing excellent coverage. In fact, this is probably one of the best concealer’s I’ve ever used.

Smashbox: Lid Primer
I was so excited to find out I would be receiving this in my bag. It’s finally something a little different than the eyeliner’s, mascara’s, and lip balms I seem to receive a lot. I’ve tried Smashbox products before and was never disappointed. This lid primer is no exception. I’ve tried a couple other eyelid primer’s in other brand’s, but I definitely think this one is my favorite. When I use this and then apply eyeshadow, it makes the shadow look much more vibrant. It also allows for long-lasting wear.

JMsolution: Jelly Cleanser
This isn’t one of my most favorite cleanser’s, but it’s still decent. The smell is minimal, and it has a jelly-like texture. It removes makeup pretty well, and I like that it doesn’t burn horribly if I manage to get some in my eyes.

Urban Decay: Eyeliner
They sent me two of these by mistake. I can’t complain about getting something extra, though if they were going to send me two of something, I would have rather it been something else. I have so many eyeliners already. This one glides on super smooth, however it does smudge easily if you’re not careful. It’s a fatter style pencil, so it works best with using on the upper lid. It didn’t work too well when I tried to use it on my bottom lids. Since I prefer to wear eyeliner on the bottom, this pencil isn’t best suited for me. If I just want to wear eyeliner on my top lids only, then this pencil will definitely be great.

Marc Anthony: Coconut Oil & Shea Butter
I’ve tried quite a few different hair oils and they’ve all been great, but this one wasn’t one of my favorites. I only used 3 drops like the directions stated, but it made my hair slightly greasy. I’ll definitely stick with my other oils instead as I like those a lot better.

Sol  Janeiro: Brazilian Bum Bum Cream
I redeemed some of my Ipsy points to get an extra product this month. I chose this bum bum cream, which is a lotion meant to smooth and tighten skin. While I do like the smell of this, it’s super strong. The first time I used it, it gave me a pounding headache. I find that because of that, I can only use a tiny little bit of this at a time. There’s no way I could use this on my arms or all over my body because the smell would be too overpowering. I have just been dabbing a tiny bit on my stomach, and I can literally smell it all day long.

  1. I have always wanted to try these bags but I get so nervous to spend the money for mystery products. At the same time though, you get to try so many makeup products and things for cheaper! Haha and this bag looks totally worth it!

    1. I felt the same way, but I’ve been a subscriber for a year and a half now. It’s fun trying out different products. Sometimes you get things you don’t need or want, but I still think it’s worth it.

  2. I love mystery bags/boxes but I’d find it way too risky with beauty products. I like certain things, and I’m very reluctant to try something new, so it’d probably be wasted on me. I love that you get a make-up bag with this one though. That’d definitely be something I loved every time!

  3. It sounds like you got some interesting stuff!
The bum bum cream giving you a headache, reminded me of the time where I would get onw every time I’d read those teen magazines. My dad told me they were sprayed with perfume.

  4. I used to get Ipsy bags and then I moved to Las Vegas and never re-signed up for them. I kind of miss them but I have so much stuff lying around from them that I don’t know what to do with.

Do you just throw away the things you hate?

My boyfriend actually asked me if he could throw away all of my old bags and of course I screamed at him not to. I did get that super cute Halloween one but I really like the one you got this year, too!

By the way, you are so lucky not to get dark circles under your eyes. If I had to choose one thing to wear it would have to be concealer because mine are so bad. 😦 My hair always gets greasy w/ any hair oil products and anything that smells too strong gives me a major headache too. 😛
