The bag
I’ve read some comments from other people about how they dislike the bag and think it’s tacky. Personally, I like it. I love the mesh and neon colors that were chosen. It was designed to resemble a running shoe, and although you can’t see it in the photo (whoops), the zipper has little shoelaces attached. It’s funny that I would like an athletic style makeup bag, since I’m not into sports or running, but somehow I do.
Real Chemistry: Fresh-Start Foaming Cleanser
Upon using this cleanser for the first time, I suddenly realized why the packaging is brown. It smells like the inside of a porta potty. Gross. Maybe not quite as smelly, but it still reminded me of it. It has a very foamy texture, but other than that I did not like this cleanser because I just can’t get past the smell.
Dermelect: Microfacial Exfoliating Mask
This mask has a very gritty texture, which is good because it’s meant to exfoliate. It definitely felt like it was gritty enough to remove the dead skin when I was rubbing it on in circles. My skin felt soft afterwards as well. It actually reminded me of the Dermalogica microfoliant that I mentioned in another post.
Vasanti Cosmetics: Kajal Waterline Eyeliner
This is the third black eyeliner in a row that Ipsy has sent me. Believe me, I was really peeved when I saw I was getting yet another one. Especially since I had mentioned in my reviews that I was tired of receiving black eyeliners every month. However, I will say that this is one I will actually be using. Some of the other eyeliners I received recently just aren’t my cup of tea because they are more well suited for the top lids. This is a waterline eyeliner, which is perfect for using on your bottom lids (and can be used on top too), and I usually always wear eyeliner on my bottom lids. It glides on pretty smooth, and I also like that it’s retractable, so need for sharpening.
Kokie Cosmetics: Liquid Lipstick (shade Mad About Mauve)
I wasn’t sure what to think of this lip cream just by looking at the tube. At first glance, I was thinking it might be too dark. My experience with some lip creams is that they end up drying into a darker color than they appear in the tube. However, that was not the case with this one. I was relieved that it was pretty true to the tube color, and it actually looked quite well on me. I also liked the texture of this when I applied it. It kind of reminded me of velvet as I was putting it on. A lot of lip creams are like a gloss when you first put them on, and then they dry into matte. This cream already felt semi-matte from the very moment you put it on, but it was still easy applied. I ended up really liking this, and I will definitely get some use out of it.
theBalm Cosmetics: Mary Lou-Manizer
I get that a lot of people like this brand, but I just can’t seem to get into their products, no matter how many times ipsy sends me their stuff. Believe me, it seems like every other month I am getting something of theirs in my glam bag, but I rarely end up using it. This is no exception. I do think their packaging is super cute and the product names are creative, but I just never really enjoy the products themselves. This particular item is a highlighter, in a very generic beige color. I already own a multitude of highlighters in this same shade. Nothing new or exciting here. I did give it a go, and it was more pigmented than I thought it would be. It didn’t seem to be very long-lasting though. I put some on to go get food, and by the time I got back home 40 minutes later, you couldn’t even see the highlight anymore.
I like the lip color a lot! Iโve heard a lot of people talking about that brand too!

It’s similar to some of the shades you wear. I think it would look great on you.

Hi Britney, I like the makeup bag as well, and you are right about it looking like a sneaker. The zipper pull shoelace how cute is that? I haven’t got mine yet ๐ฆ Oh well, it’s my turn to wait. I always get a sneak peek and spoiler from Ipsy of what’s in my Ipsy bag anyway. I’m sorry you didn’t like the scent of the foaming cleanser! I love foaming soaps, and I’ve never heard of the brand, but if it smells terrible, it will deter me as well. Dermelect makes nail polish, it’s interesting they have a skincare line. I love getting new skincare products to try more than foundation because I don’t use it. Anyway, maybe tomorrow it will come.

Hopefully you get your bag soon. I had to wait quite a while for mine last month because it was late.

I got my ipsy bag a few days ago, and while I had similar items, they were all completely different lol. Iโm still a newbie when it comes to most of this stuff, so itโs fun for me to try it out. It sounds like ipsy is getting really repetitive for you though! For as many items as they have youโd think theyโd mix it up a little more! Or maybe itโs whoever is making your bag?
I do like how the bag looks this month! Definitely fits the theme they were going for.

I just got mine yesterday and I liked the bag too. It feels nice and thick which makes me feel like it is just more durable than the other bags I received. This is only my third ipsy bag though. Lol. My products were completely different from yours. It is nice to see what others got in their bags. ๐๐

The running shoe bag idea sounds neat! I bought Mary-Lou last year and I really like it, I haven’t noticed whether it lasts all day on me though. You’ve brought up a valid point which I will test when I next wear it ๐

I like the idea of a running shoe style bag. It’s different! I love the lip shade, too.

Lol! “I suddenly realized why the packaging is brown” ๐ I used to have a Stila Kajal liner and when it ran out, I couldn’t find it anymore. I’ll have to look into the one you got!
I also remember receiving a ton of the Ball’s stuff. I’ve never really loved any of it, either.

Fab post! I wish we could get this bag in the UK!
By the way, I’ve nominated you for the Liebster Award (unsure if you’ve already done it)! xx
