Weekly Photo Roundup #6

What have I been up to since I got back from Ocean City? Not too much, aside from going back to work, watching movies, and eating lots of food. I got to try some new food places recently, which I’ll get to later in the post. I seriously get so excited about food! Haha.

At the end of August, I got bored one evening while I was still on vacation, so I decided to get all glammed up. Where did I go? Nowhere, but who cares. Sometimes it’s just fun doing your hair and makeup for no reason other than you just feel like it.

I decided to go for a slight retro look, which was fun. I don’t wear red lips too often, but I absolutely love polka dots!

I just snapped these using the Huji Cam app on my iPhone. I also made a black and white version of the far right photo. I couldn’t decide which one I like more. I love the color hues in the photo, but the black and white gives it more of a vintage vibe. What do you think?

If you saw my Butter Me Soft Haul post, I tried out one of the bath bombs recently. I tried the Galactic Dreams bomb, and let me tell you I have never had a better smelling bath bomb. I was literally soaking in the tub for an hour and a half. When I got out, I couldn’t believe how long I was in there!

I’ve watched quite a few movies this past week. They’re all horror, of course. My favorite! (I do like other movies too though). This wasn’t even all that I watched. I also watched Disturbing Behavior, Sorority Row, Return to Cabin by the Lake, Friday the 13th, Urban Legend, and I forget what else. I’m not really sure why I always feel the need to snap a photo when I watch movies, but I do. I actually follow a couple instagram accounts who do the same thing sometimes, and I really like the aesthetic. Plus, I actually am interested in seeing what other people are watching. Plus, I love when movies have title screens/sequences.

I’ve also been bingeing on Friends, which I’ve been obsessed with lately, if you didn’t know. I’m currently on season 8, and I’m about to go binge some more, as soon as I finish this post. I don’t know what I’m going to do once I finish. I mean, I’ll probably start back from the beginning, but the freshness of seeing all the episodes for the first time will be gone.

Moving on to the yummy food! I was googling food places that would deliver to my house recently, and I came across a Korean restaurant called Bonchon. Apparently it’s a franchise and there are others elsewhere. I’ve never heard of it until now though. Apparently, this place has been here for the past year, and I never even knew it. Sadly, they don’t deliver to my house. However, they do have online ordering for takeout, so I decided to give them a go. I couldn’t decide between the Bull Dak and the Japchae. I wasn’t sure how big the portion sizes were, and the items were a little pricey, so I decided to just order one thing for now. I ended up going with the Japchae, since that seemed pretty popular. I thought it tasted a lot like Chinese Lo Mein, except with glass noodles, and it was even better. I loved it! I definitely want to get it again, but I do want to try the Bull Dak next time as well. The portion size ended up only being enough for one meal, so I definitely wished I had gotten both because then I could have tried both dishes and still had some leftover. Next time though!

I remembered hearing about a place here called Fuji, which is Chinese cuisine and sushi. I looked them up, and they do deliver here, so I ordered some food from them over the weekend. The reviews were mixed, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. The delivery took quite a while. It was an hour and ten minutes before they got here. I ordered the Pan Fried Hong Kong Noodles, Dynamite Roll (sushi with imitation crab, salmon, and avocado), and I thought I would be nice and get a California Roll for my mom.

Well, see if I order any food for her ever again. All she did was complain about it. I admit, the California Roll was a little pathetic looking, but it was listed under ‘Small Rolls’ on the menu. As soon as she saw it, she said, “I don’t want this. This has that imitation crab meat in it. I don’t eat that crap.” I told her that’s what is in the California Rolls that she always eats (that she gets from the market), except there isn’t as much in those. She’s the one that won’t branch out and try any other types. She told me not to get her anymore sushi, so I said “Fine, I’ll save my money.”

I thought my Pan Fried Hong Kong noodles were good, but I didn’t realize when I ordered that the noodles and the broth would come separately. I was a little annoyed by that. I had to grab a bowl and mix it myself. I think I poured too much broth in the bowl though because it ended up being like a soup. I don’t think it’s supposed to be like that? When I googled it, it just showed noodles, similar to a pasta. Oh well, it was still good like that. It was kind of like Ramen.

The Dynamite Roll was so good! I haven’t tried many different types of sushi. I’ve only had a California Roll, Shrimp Tempura, and a Blue Crab Roll. This one had imitation crab, salmon, and avocado, with a fried crunchy outer layer and spicy mayo and eel sauce. I’m not crazy about imitation crab meat, but with the sauce on it, it didn’t bother me. I absolutely loved the crunchy layer and the sauces. All the flavors together were fantastic. I will definitely order this again. I really want to try some other types of sushi too.

Last night I decided to order pizza. I looked up King’s Pizza because I had their pizza during a pizza party at work before and thought it was really good. I didn’t think they would deliver to me because they’re located in the north end, and my house is on the south end. I checked and they do deliver to my address! I like a little variety, so I usually get half and half pizza’s. I got one half with salami and capicola, and the other half with green peppers, onions, and jalapenos. It was delicious and super cheesy!

Well, that about wraps it up. The last two photos I took today on my work break. I downloaded a new app called Kamon. It’s basically just like Huji Cam and takes retro looking photos. The only thing I don’t like about it is the film strip effect it puts on some of the photos. I wish there was a way to just turn that one effect off.

  1. For the longest time, I wasn’t a big fan of Chinese food, but I tried it one day and actually enjoyed it. I can’t really convince myself to try Sushi though, because the whole “raw” fish thing turns me off. Haha. I think I would have enjoyed the ramen though, because I’m a huge noodle fanatic!

I found it funny how you watched Jaws immediately after coming home from Ocean City. I’m glad that we went when we did, because Hurricane Florence is starting to come in and from the pictures on Facebook, it looks pretty bad.

I loved the pictures you took in Huji. You look great and that dress looks so good on you! Love your hair wavy too. I’ve been a little obsessed with Huji since you showed me how to use it. The other app looks cool too, aside from the film overlay. I might not be downloading that. Haha.

    1. I saw the OC pics. It’s crazy how the sand has covered the boardwalk. I actually haven’t had any sushi with raw fish yet. The sushi I had here had cooked salmon in it. Although I did read up that there really isn’t bacteria/illness you can get from raw salmon. So if I ever eat sushi with raw fish, I’ll probably opt for the salmon.

  2. You are such a classic beauty, Britney! I love the photos in the polka dot dress!

The bath bomb made the water so pretty, I wish I could smell it!!!

I’m just so jealous of your basement. It looks so cozy & so nice for a movie night!

The Japchae looks freaking delish!! Yum!! And so does the Chinese meal!! I actually prefer for the noodles and broth to be separated when I order to-go because when the noodles are in the broth, they usually are way too soft by the time they get to me.

That was quite rude of your mom to act that way… especially since she eats the same roll all the time? Wow, I’m sorry! More for you, right?!

Love when you do these posts! πŸ™‚ Thanks for sharing with us!!!

    1. Aww, thank you. ❀ Yes, my basement is pretty cozy for being unfinished. I mean, it still has the concrete flooring and block walls, but once you add a rug, lights, decor, etc., it does become cozy. It's my favorite place in my house. πŸ™‚

I don't like noodles when they are too soft either, so that makes sense. I didn't think about that! It's just that usually if I'm ordering delivery, I'm feeling lazy and don't want to feel like I have to do any extra work. I just want to dig in. LOL I know, I'm so lazy at times!

  3. Guuuurl you look amazing ❀ I love the whole combo of the polka dot dress and the red lipstick – it gives the whole look a youthful and fab vibe!

I don't think I've ever tried bath bombs before, but OMG that looks so beautiful! I bet it smells great too!

Lol I also remember finding it strange that noodles and broth are separated when delivered, but apparently it's done that way so that the noodles wouldn't get mushy while on the road XD I don't remember where I learned it, all I know is that it was an Asian food show in a random food cable channel lol

I find it fascinating that you love horror movies so much, since I also love them and it's so hard to find people who would agree to watch those kinds of movies with me T_T I feel like it would be so much fun to hang out and watch horror movies with you XD

    1. Aww, thank you! ❀ Yes, horror movies are so much fun to watch. I really like comedies too, but horror will always have my heart. I remember being 3 or 4 years old and watching them. πŸ˜› Growing up my dad and I would always go to Blockbuster and rent horror movies.

Yes, that totally makes sense about the noodles now. I don't like mushy noodles. It does work out good if you have leftovers too because warming any type of noodles/pasta in the microwave always makes them slightly mushy too.

  4. Ahhhhh I would never be able to sleep if I watched all of those scary movies! I’m a complete wimp and I can’t handle scary at all anymore (I used to watch them all the time so IDK what happened there!). I’m officially craving asian food after reading this post. And you look so beautiful in those pics! Who needs a reason to dress up?! I love it!
