Weekly Photo Roundup #7

I had my 30th birthday party last Saturday. A family friend made a cake for me, which I wasn’t expecting. She is so good at cakes! She makes and decorates them herself. It was red velvet and had a whipped cream icing, which is my favorite. I don’t like the really sweet icings. However, I discovered that my body can’t handle eating stuff like that too well anymore. It seems like anything that ends in ‘cream’ (whipped cream, sour cream, ice cream, for example) does a number on my stomach. The cake was so delicious though. It was worth it. We called it the rave cake. As some of you know, if you’ve been reading, I was in the rave scene years back. Although I don’t rave anymore, it still has a special place in my heart. Plus, I still love anything neon and fluorescent.

I had to get at least one balloon because I love balloons. I wanted to fill a whole bunch of balloons with helium and have them all up on the ceiling in the living room, but I couldn’t afford to buy a helium machine at the moment or fit them in my car if I got the helium put in elsewhere. Maybe I can save that idea for another time.

I had an absolute blast at my party! It was the best party I’ve had in a while. A good many people came, and I wanted to get tons of pictures, but I ended up getting super lit and didn’t get too many. At least I’ll have the memories though. I was mixing stuff, and usually I don’t do that because it can make me sick, but thankfully that didn’t happen.

At one point, one of my favorite songs came on (“Hurricane” by The Band of Heathens), and I started screaming with excitement. I was acting like my basement was a karaoke bar, and I started singing the entire song, all while using one of my remotes as a microphone. lmao! People were getting all into it though, and they started clapping their hands along to the rhythm of the song. Man, it was great! I’m sorry they had to hear my horrible singing though. Especially since I was screaming the lyrics more than I was singing them. Everyone was laughing and clapping though, so I think they all enjoyed the show.

What else happened recently? Well, we got our first snow of the season here in Maryland. I heard it’s supposed to be a particularly brutal Winter with really cold temperatures and lots of snow, so it’s no surprise we got snow already. We got 6 inches! There’s something so beautiful about the crossing of Fall and Winter, so I had to get these photos. I love the mix of the white snow with the pretty Autumn colors.

I was also on vacation from work recently. I did absolutely nothing the entire time except for eat a bunch of food and watch TV and movies. The trailer for the new Leprechaun movie, “Leprechaun Returns”, came out, and now I’m so excited for it! I love the Leprechaun series! It made me want to watch some of the films, so I did. Cameron joined me too, as you can see in the photo. Warwick Davis isn’t in the new movie, unfortunately, but the new guy looks to be pretty decent based on the trailer. I also love that it’s a direct sequel to the original and takes place at the same location. Ozzie from the first film is back too. Any other horror fanatics excited about the new movie?

Thursday was Thanksgiving, so I had the day off work and got to eat some delicious food. My mom made the dinner here at my house, which is awesome because I got to eat in my pajamas. She did a great job this year too. Last year the turkey and stuffing turned out kind of dry, but it turned out perfect this year. I was eating leftovers for days. If you celebrate Thanksgiving, what did you have on your plates, and what is your favorite side? My favorite is sauerkraut. It does not feel like Thanksgiving to me unless sauerkraut is on my plate. I always like seeing what’s on everyone’s plates/dinner tables because it always varies based on region as well as ethnic backgrounds.

After dinner, we put up the Christmas tree. We used to do it on Black Friday, but now we have to work on that day, so we did it on Thanksgiving instead. It’s a new tree this year! The old one was just one of those small 3 ft. ones. Now we have a taller 7 ft. one. I like it so much better. It has both white and colored lights on it, so you can change the settings based on what you want. I have it set to white lights that fade into colored lights.

This weekend has been wonderfully relaxing. Last night I was watching movies on Netflix, and as you can see in the photo, Cameron is snuggled up next to me on my futon. He is so sweet! I plan to watch some more movies tonight, so I’ll probably have some “Recently Watched on Netflix” posts coming up soon.

    1. I love sauerkraut! I have German heritage, so we’ve always eaten it in my family. It’s like a comfort food for me. It does have a weird taste though, so I can see why some people don’t like it.

Yes, I also have another Christmas edition Recently Watched post coming soon too. πŸ™‚

  3. That cake looks amazing!! I can’t believe she actually made that herself…it looks completely professional! She’s definitely skilled. Also, my husband is from Maryland as well and he feels the same way about sauerkraut on Thanksgiving! I’d never heard of it as a side before I met him. My favorite side is probably green bean casserole. πŸ™‚

    1. That’s so awesome! Yeah whenever I see Thanksgiving articles online (like Buzzfeed, for example) there’s never any mention of sauerkraut. I’m pretty sure Marylanders are the only ones who do it. lol
