The Blonde is Back

It has been three months since my last entry, so if I still have any viewers/followers left, hello! I wanted to post and tell you about some changes that have happened recently.

For starters, I have decided not to renew my Premium WordPress membership for this blog. I already thought it was too expensive before, but now the domain name isn’t even included anymore. That means I would have to pay $99 for the premium plan, plus another $18 for the domain name renewal. $117 is just too much money considering I don’t post much anymore. My premium plan doesn’t actually expire until the very end of September, so I will be able to keep it until then. I’m not yet sure what that means for this blog. It might mean I will have to go through and delete old entries because I might not have enough storage on the free plan to keep everything. The current layout/theme I’m using is also a premium theme, so my site probably won’t be as appealing looking anymore. It’s a shame because I really do like the look of this theme and the header logo I created fits it quite well. However, as I stated, it’s not worth all that money.

As you may have noticed, I’ve also been posting significantly less. I do not want to close my blog down entirely because I still enjoy making a post from time to time to check in, but I do not have the time to devote to this blog like I used to. That’s another reason the free plan will suit me better for now. I do think I might pay the $18 to renew my domain name though, at least for the next year.

I thought I would make a short update on my car as well, since I made some posts about it previously. A couple months after my wreck, I posted about how I had finally gotten my car fixed and it looked good as new. Well, guess what? Literally a month after it was fixed, some of the paint is now scraped off of the same door that was freshly painted. I’m not sure if a rock flew up and hit it or what, but I’m still really mad about that. It seems funny that I went six years without having a single mark on my car, and then this happens within a month of getting fresh paint. I think it’s because when I bought my car, I had a clear protective coat put on it. When my car got fixed, I bet you they just painted it and didn’t put that extra protective coating on it and that’s probably why the paint is scraping off so easily now. Ugh. If that guy wouldn’t have hit me, this probably wouldn’t have happened either.

Okay, enough about that. Let me get into the photos now. In my last post, I was sharing with you my newly dyed purple hair. Well, that was months ago, and my hair was starting to look pretty dull. The purple was still hanging on though. I couldn’t believe it didn’t come all the way out. When I had pink hair, the pink ended up coming completely out. I wasn’t a big fan of the what the purple faded into though, so I was ready for a change. I decided to go back to blonde. I missed it, and I always feel I look my best when I’m blonde. Also, blonde hair tends to make you look younger than darker hair. Now that I’m in my 30’s, I would definitely rather look younger. I get people telling me all the time how I definitely don’t look 30 and I look young for my age, but I have been noticing some signs of aging.

Even after getting my hair bleached and toned, some of the purple still remained. I’m telling you, that was some strong dye. That purple has been hanging on for dear life! It’s okay though because the purple is so light now that it’s almost not even noticeable. It’s very subtle and blends with the blonde very nicely. I love how it turned out!

I’ve been eating some delicious food this past week, so I thought I would share some photos to make you all hungry. πŸ˜›

I got this crispy chicken salad from Anthony’s, a local place. I put honey mustard dressing on it, and it was so delicious! The chicken was the best part because it was cooked perfectly. Plus, the melted cheese on it made it even better. This salad was massive too. The picture makes it look smaller than it actually was. I ate the whole thing though, but then I was stuffed.

After I got my hair done, I asked my mom if she wanted to go to Washington Chicken to eat. It’s one of my favorite local places. My mom got the chicken poppers meal, and I got the toasted jalapeno cornbread sandwich with mango habanero sauce, which is my favorite item on the menu. I also got a buffalo chicken salad with blue cheese dressing that I ended up taking home and eating the next day.

Today I decided to order Chinese food. I kid you not, it’s been almost a year since I’ve had any. I used to eat it all the time. Before I bought my house and moved, there was a place called Evergreen right down the road. I used to go there a lot. I thought about riding up there to get some, but I didn’t feel like leaving my house and wanted to order delivery. I looked up some nearby Chinese food places that would deliver to me and ended up ordering from Hong Kong Express. It was my first time eating their food.

I ended up ordering Shrimp Chow Fun, Szechuan Noodles, Fried Rice, and Spring Rolls. The delivery was super fast! They were here in twenty minutes! I was really hungry, so I was quite happy about that. The first thing I tried was the fried rice and the spring rolls. I usually always get those when I order Chinese food. I was honestly unimpressed with them though. I only ordered the plain fried rice since it was two dollars cheaper, and plain it was. When I would order the plain fried rice from Evergreen, they would always put onions in it for extra flavor, and I loved that. This place didn’t do that, so it ended up being pretty plain tasting and definitely not as good. The spring rolls were also smaller than the ones I would get from Evergreen. They also weren’t as crunchy and just didn’t taste as good.

I did enjoy my noodle dishes though. Evergreen did not have Shrimp Chow Fun on their menu, so I figured I would try it for something a little different. It was pretty good. It tastes just like lo mein, except with super fat noodles.

The Szechuan Noodles is what I enjoyed the most. You could order them mild, medium, or hot. I got the hot, of course. They had nice flavor and a good spicy kick to them. It wasn’t enough to really make my mouth burn or anything, but it was still a decent level. It’s the spiciest Chinese dish I’ve had so far. I used to order the szechaun shrimp from Evergreen a lot because that was my favorite meal, but there wasn’t really any heat to it. Hong Kong Express has that also, so I’ll have to try their version and see if it’s as spicy as the noodles.

  1. The WordPress plan definitely isn’t worth it! It’s so expensive, it’s much cheaper to get your domain & hosting elsewhere these days. I don’t blame you for going back to the free plan, especially if you aren’t posting as much as you used to.
Also, you’re in your 30s!? Dang you look fantastic! I definitely thought you were mid twenties at the latest. Your blonde hair looks great! I recently went back to blonde too and I realized how much I missed it.

    1. Thanks! Usually other people think I’m in my 20’s also, even though I’ll be 31 in a few months. I’m starting to notice some more wrinkles though which freaks me out. πŸ˜› Of course most people don’t notice because you have to really look at me up close. lol

  2. Oh man, that’s the detrimental side of wordpress, its hard to find a win-win! I’m sorry to hear about the paint job on your car that’s pretty irritating but its like scars on a body but scrapes on a car, indicative of the journey its been on. You definitely don’t look thirty omg, you look like you are in your early twenties! And the blonde makes you look so ethereal, I love it! That chicken salad looks sooo good! Haha American Chinese food is always so cute! Usually Szechuan cuisine has a lot of spice in them because they use this mala pepper, you should look it up its really awesome!
Glad to see you writing again, why the long hiatus?

    1. Thanks! I definitely don’t think I look in my early 20’s, but of course you’re your own worst critic. πŸ˜› When I was in my 20’s, people always thought I was a teenager. lol

I would like to try more authentic Chinese, but of course the Americanized version is really all you can find here.

I was on hiatus because I didn’t have too much to write about, but also because it’s hard to find the time. When you work 40-50 hours a week, you can only fit so many hobbies in. I’m always struggling to keep up with my shows, and I also play this game called Covet Fashion, which I love.

      Thanks for reading!

      1. Ahhh that’s a commonality when most people get full-time jobs. I just looked it up on Google and it looks pretty fun! I’m gonna try and make space to download it hehe! Thanks for mentioning! Hopefully you’ll be back soon and writing more!

  3. WordPress is insanely expensive for such little benefits! Even if you don’t post as much anymore, I think it’s still cheaper to look at domain hosting than continuing with WordPress Premium and that way you can still have a custom theme and save all your entries.

The blonde hair looks amazing! I love the blended purple tones you still have. I’m sorry to hear about your chipped paint on your car! It sucks that it happened within a month or so – can you bring it back to the shop for a quick touch up? I would assume they must have some sort of guarantee on their jobs.

    1. I was going to take my car back to the body shop after that happened, but my mom said they probably wouldn’t fix it for free since you can clearly tell something scraped against my car (as opposed to just the paint chipping off on its own). I should have just went though. It probably wouldn’t have hurt to ask. It might be too late now though since it has now been 3 months since it was fixed.

  4. Wow I did not know that they raised their prices, shame. I still have a free blog and have been looking to get a .com domain so my blog looks a bit better but I definitely still have to do some more research and see what my best options are.
Anyway, I definitely love your blonde hair and I can see why you say it makes you look younger. I dont think blonde suits me so I would never go for that lol I’m fine with my brown hair.
Sucks about the car situation but hopefully other than that, everything else is going great! All the food looks delish and now I’m seriously craving some good Chinese food.

  5. Hi Britney!! So excited I’ve finally made it to your post. β™‘ I probably will only be renewing my domain, too, since I deleted posts & resized images, I don’t even need the extra storage space anymore. I’m only on the personal plan which didn’t include a nice theme anyways though! I’m glad you won’t be shutting your blog down completely. πŸ™‚

So sorry about the paint on your car. I bet they totally didn’t do that protective coat, you def have the right to be annoyed!

Personally, I LOVE you as a blonde the most, too. You look much younger than 30!! 😍

All of the food looks so dang yummy, especially that cornbread sandwich! I still remember the first time you posted it, I want it so bad LOL. Awesome that you found a fast delivering Chinese spot, they’ll come in handy often. πŸ™‚

So nice to read this li’l update from you!! β™‘ Thanks for sharing, babe!

  6. I used for a very short time. I found that I felt even more restricted, even with premium. At the moment, I’m on HostGator and I pay about $10 a month with a lot more freedom to use whichever theme I wish.

Out of the purple and pink, the pink was my favorite, but I do love you as a blonde.

I’ve always been so envious of the color of your car, because it’s my favorite color. It’s the color that I wanted to get, but they didn’t have it in stock for my car model, so I went with the dark gray. In just the first month of having my car, someone smacked it with their car door and I was so pissed!
