I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and New Years. My Christmas went okay, but my New Years Eve didn’t completely go as planned. I’ll get to that in a bit. I’m going to share some photos from around Christmas time to now.Continue reading “Happy New Year! (Weekly Photo Roundup #8)”
I had my 30th birthday party last Saturday. A family friend made a cake for me, which I wasn’t expecting. She is so good at cakes! She makes and decorates them herself. It was red velvet and had a whipped cream icing, which is my favorite. I don’t like the really sweet icings. However, I discovered that my body can’t handle eating stuff like that too well anymore. It seems like anything that ends in ‘cream’ (whipped cream, sour cream, ice cream, for example) does a number on my stomach. The cake was so delicious though. It was worth it. We called it the rave cake. As some of you know, if you’ve been reading, I was in the rave scene years back. Although I don’t rave anymore, it still has a special place in my heart. Plus, I still love anything neon and fluorescent.Continue reading “Weekly Photo Roundup #7”
Since Halloween is on a weekday and I will be working, I celebrated over the weekend. My friend Christina had a Halloween party, so I went to that on Saturday. I didn’t get many pictures because my phone died super fast. It was 100% charged when I left the house, and within a couple hours it had died.
I didn’t have that much time to plan out a makeup look, so I just smeared some fake blood gel on my face (which took me 2 minutes) and went as a zombie. I was really impressed with this fake blood though. A few years ago, I bought some crappy fake blood that was really runny and didn’t look like the real thing at all. It was orange and stained my skin. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case this time. It actually looked like real blood, and it washed off super easily without leaving any color behind.
Time for Halloween look #2! The previous look I did, I primarily used eyeshadows. With this look, I primarily used face paint. The great thing about these face paints is that they wash right off with a little bit of water, so the cleanup was easy.
I’ve been wanting to do a Beetlejuice inspired look from the beginning, but I was hesitant to do one since it seems like so many people are doing them this year for some reason. I don’t really like to be trendy or jump on the bandwagon, I like to just do my own thing. However, since I was planning on doing a look like this for a while, I decided to go ahead with it. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out, although it is a bit sloppy in places. My line work isn’t the best, but I have very little experience with this kind of thing, so I guess it’s not too bad for a beginner.
It’s officially October! You know what that means? Halloween! Yes, Halloween is all month long, not just one day. To celebrate, I plan to do some different Halloween makeup looks all month long. My goal is to do one a week, but I’m not entirely sure that will work out. If not, I at least I want to do three looks this month.
This is my first one. I figured I would start off with something less creepy and more dreamy. I call this look “Hybrid” because it’s kind of a cross between an alien and a clown. I used an app to change my hair and eye colors just to enhance the look a little bit, and add to its fantasy factor. It’s a little sloppy, but I didn’t have any wigs or colored contacts.
For the makeup, I used a combination of eyeshadow, face paint, highlighter, glitter, and white eyeliner and mascara. Overall, I think this look turned out okay. I really didn’t have a plan or an idea of what I wanted to do. I just started putting color on my face and went from there.
