It almost seems a little surreal right now. For some reason it doesn’t seem like my birthday. I remember a time when I never wanted to live past 27 years old. Now I’ve made it through two more birthday’s. I am 29. I still can’t believe I’m so close to 30. I know everyone says that your 30’s are your best years yet, but I have a terrible fear of aging. I know I can’t be young and beautiful forever, and there’s a lot more to life than physical appearance. At least I still have one year of my 20’s left, although I know it will fly by super fast. Today is also bittersweet because it’s my kitty Chloe’s birthday as well. She would have been 17 years old. She almost made it. I think it’s amazing that we shared the same birthday. I wish she was still here with me.

The company I work for decided to switch our holiday’s. We’ve always had Black Friday off in the past, but they took that holiday away from us and gave us Veteran’s Day instead. I’m not too happy about that because I’ve always done the majority of my Christmas shopping on Black Friday, and now I will have to be at work the entire day. Not only that, but it takes away our four day weekend too. We would always have Thanksgiving and Black Friday off, and then Saturday and Sunday followed. Now we’ll just have Thanksgiving off, have to go back to work Friday, and then have the typical two-day weekend. I would also always indulge in some alcoholic beverages on Thanksgiving night, but now I will be unable to do so since I will have to wake up and go to work the next day. The only good thing about having Veteran’s Day off instead is that I already put in for vacation for this coming week, so I just got an extra day tacked on to it.
So with that said, this post is going to be about my cozy three-day weekend spent in my house. On Friday, I wanted to have a little relaxing pamper session. I drew some hot bath water and applied one of my favorite face masks (as mentioned in this post).

I’ve bought several products from BH Cosmetics over the last few months, and I really like what I’ve tried so far. I was initially on the hunt for some new makeup brushes and I thought I would check to see what they had to offer. I ended up buying quite a few other things. I got their Galaxy Chic palette over the summer, which I love, so I knew I had to have the Solar Flare palette as soon as I saw it. It’s gorgeous! They also have a cool Supernova palette, but I opted not to get that one for now. For only $3 more, I could get the Rose Quartz brush set with the Solar Flare palette, so that’s what I decided to do. I haven’t tried them yet, but they feel soft.

At least one or two Sunday’s per month, my mom will cook a meal for us. She’s actually not that big on cooking, and I do not know how to cook at all, so I do appreciate these home cooked meals. We mostly just survive on takeout and frozen meals. I know, it’s terrible. I wish I could learn to cook, but I just feel it’s not for me. I love eating good food, but preparing it is another story.
Hell, there have been times when I couldn’t even properly cook food in the microwave. Does anybody remember Ragu Express? I once tried to make that and stuck the bowl of noodles in the microwave without putting water in first. Then I realized the noodles were burning. If that isn’t bad enough, wait until you hear this. I once had a friend over and we were going to watch a movie. I put some popcorn in the microwave, and actually walked out of the room without paying attention to it. When the timer went off off, we walked into the kitchen to find smoke pouring out of the microwave. I opened the bag, and the popcorn was nothing more than black mush. There was this terrible burnt smell in the house now. My mom was in the shower during all of this, but as soon as she got out she could smell it. She started yelling at me, and we had to open the door and windows to get the smoke and smell out. I have since mastered the art of microwaving popcorn, however.

On Halloween, my precious kitty Chloe took her last breath. It was one of the hardest days of my life so far. Just last week I was driving in my car and I was thinking about how she was getting older. I started to cry because I thought I might only have a year left with her, at the most. Little did I know that I would only have a week.
It all started on Sunday evening when Chloe did not want to eat for some reason. I found it odd, but I just figured maybe she didn’t feel good and wasn’t hungry. I also noticed that while she was trying to clean herself, she just completely fell over onto her side.

Saturday evening I went to my friend/relative’s Halloween party. Only about half the people who were invited came, which I know bummed her out a little bit. It was the same for me because I would have loved to have seen everyone too. However, just because a ton of people doesn’t show up, doesn’t mean you can’t still have a great time. That’s exactly what we did too. Sadly, I had to leave just as things were really getting lively. My mom was my designated driver, and she came to get me pretty early because she was tired. Oh well, at least I got to get out for a little while.
As I mentioned in a previous post, my friend goes crazy with decorating her house for Halloween. She said she wasn’t able to get all of her decorations out this year due to time restraints and not feeling well, but I thought her house and yard still looked pretty awesome. I made sure to take pictures of most of the decorations.

I received my first VoxBox! I’m really excited about it because for some reason I never thought I would be considered for one. Receiving a box of products completely free seemed almost too good to be true for me.
If you don’t know what a VoxBox is, it’s a box of products that is mailed to you for free in exchange for you sharing on social media as well as filling out a mandatory survey that is sent to you a little while after you get a box. It is a part of the Influenster site and app. You may or may not receive a box each month. They are sent out based on your preferences and snap survey’s that you have to fill out to be considered. If they think you fit the demographic for their current box, they will send you a pre-qualification survey via email asking if you’re open to trying and reviewing certain types of products. Then they notify you again if you’ve been chosen to receive a box.
I’m so happy I was picked to receive this box! I hope I am picked for more as well, but here are some of my thoughts on this one.
